    9.【2019年全國Ⅰ卷·閱讀B】Whaley recalls（回想起）how at the beginning of the year，when called upon to read，Chris would excuse himself to go to the bathroom.

【參考譯文】威利回憶起今年年初的情形---每當叫克里斯朗讀時，他總是借口去洗手間。

【參考解析】how有個較為特殊的用法，其常用于某些形容詞和動詞后引出陳述或事實，常指記起之事或希望他人了解之事，此時就相當于that。這些形容詞及動詞常常為strange, amazing, funny, important, remember, recall, knows, tell等。這種用法的how通常比使用that更生動活潑。

It’s amazing how people collect so much stuff over the years.人們竟然日積月累地收集了這么多東西，真令人驚嘆。

Isn’t it strange how no one ever mentions his name nowadays?如今竟然沒有一個人提到他的名字，這不奇怪嗎？

It’s funny how I never seem to get a thing done on my day off.真有趣，我好像從來沒有在休息日完成過一件事。

I remember how they used to have those huge roaring fires in the winter.我記得他們經(jīng)常在冬天生起熊熊燃燒的爐火。

He knows how you are a valued employee.他知道你是位受器重的雇員。

【參考譯文】你所需要的就是一個容許你犯錯的好老師。

【參考解析】英語語篇中有一種使用what 主語從句進行事物聚焦的手段，What you /I want/ need/ adore/ like/ dislike... is sth，即這種結構是You/ I want/ need/ adore/dislike...sth的強調形式。在翻譯時往往會忽略這種強調語氣，其實漢語中的“所”字恰有此功能，其通常位于漢語的一個主謂形式中間, 或者有時我們翻譯時直接加上“就是”即可。

What you need is a drama coach. 你所需要的就是一位戲劇輔導老師。

To put it bluntly, what he wants is to get more kickbacks. 說白了，他就是想多撈些回扣而已。

What he likes is watching TV after supper. 他所喜歡的就是晚飯后看看電視。

What I want is exactly this one. 我所要的就是這個。

【參考譯文】它也不需要某種人們不熟悉的新技術。

【參考解析】already通常不用于否定句，但否定“if”從句、否定疑問句和否定定語從句例外。

You are not leaving already, are you? 你不打算走了，是不是？

Refer certain types of death to the coroner if this has not already been done.如果現(xiàn)在尚未這樣做的話，就將某些類型的死亡個案提交給驗尸官處理。

What does it show us that we haven’t already felt? 它告訴我們什么是我們還沒有感覺到的?

【參考解析】弄不清楚that及they的回指對象, 此句的理解就會有問題。That指代上文的dialogue; they指代上文的各種網(wǎng)絡平臺。注意這句話的下列轉換,其中，后兩句的語氣更為強烈。

They are for dialogue.

What they are for is dialogue.

Dialogue is what they are for.
